The icons for Google Chrome and Dropbox are missing from my notification area. This is frustrating because I need to access Dropbox through the tray icon.
Cairo-Dock version:
3.3.99.beta1
Linux Distro:
Peppermint 5
OpenGL/No OpenGL:
Using OpenGL
Window Manager:
XFWM4 (same problem when using Openbox, though)
Desktop environment:
XFCE

Hello, sorry for the delay and thank you for reporting this.
There are different protocols used for the Notification areas and some distros/apps have not upgraded to the new protocol and this can only be resolved through the developers of the specific applications (and package maintainers of the distros). On my Ubuntu system I can use the Notification Area but on my Debian system I need to use the Notification Area Old. Have you tried the Notification Area Old?
There also seems to be a workaround for Dropbox as shown in this thread http://www.glx-dock.org/bg_topic.php?t=7846 |

I already have libappindicator1 installed, and the Dropbox icon doesn't appear in the new notification area. I suspect this is because the Dropbox on my system is customized for my distro (Peppermint 5). However, the old notification area shows the missing icons. The problem is that the old notification area shows the icons on a new row which is on my desktop, as in this image: http://i.imgur.com/O0vgcYw.png
Is it possible to have the old notification area display all icons in a single horizontal row, as the new one does, or is this a limitation of the old notification area? |

I see, "is detached from the dock" was checked. Unchecking that at least puts all of the notifications under a single icon, and hovering over that shows me the icons. Not the best solution, I'd rather see all my notification icons at all times, but it's better than the missing icons I had before. |

Forgot to login before. This is my last question. I've decided to use the old notification area, since most of the icons show up. Is there some way to change the sizing of the bubble for the old notification area so that the icons don't get cut off? Now, it looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/oCMwFq0.png |

All icons should be drawn in the same line but it's not possible to include these icons into the dock (the dock receives all icons, it's not possible to customise it and it's a problem with a wave/zoom feature of most dock's views).
Is there some way to change the sizing of the bubble for the old notification area so that the icons don't get cut off?
Strange! Do you have this problem if you move the main icon to the middle and to the left of your screen? |

Was this ever solved? I'm having the same problem with the Notification Area Old window being too small and cutting off the icons. Thanks! |
