Hello,
What's the output messages produces by these commands: echo $COLORTERM
echo $TERM COLORTERM env variable should be mate-terminal. If it's not, please report this problem to mate devs. As workaround, you can maybe launch the dock with env COLORTERM=mate-terminal cairo-dock (or setting COLORTERM in your ~/.xprofile file) |

COLORTERM returns nothing
TERM returns xterm
I will add the COLORTERM to the startup command, thanks.
But why have a preference to choose the terminal and ignore it? |

But why have a preference to choose the terminal and ignore it? Where do you find this preference?
I think that the only way to set the default terminal is by setting COLORTERM (or TERM) environment variable. |

But maybe an idea to add? Yes, it can be interesting to add an option (e.g. if you've install other terminals like Terminator and you don't want to use the default one) but the best thing to do now is to report the bug with COLORTERM env variable to Mate devs |
