Hello,
I love your project and I have a small patch to propose
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/546/bprw.jpg/
As you can guess, I got fed up with GTK's constant breakage, especially with their latest insanity (removing image from menus definitely, forcing all applications and desktop environments even not linked with Gnome to adopt their point of view).
so I think it's about time to make something we talked about 1 or 2 years before, which is draw the menus ourselves
in this picture, the GTK theme's colors of menus are used, and the goal is to make it consistent with dialogs (and even why not with the dock's background, the labels, ...)
I'm thinking of a single parameter in the simple config that would change several colors at once.
Also, some options are possible to draw the menus (all the parameters of the dialogs, like centering the arrow, drawing an outline, the radius, the gradation, etc) |

Finally!!!
Rejoice. Christmas has landed early this year.
Next version should be renamed 4.0 |

Hello,
I love your project and I have a small patch to propose Thank you but don't forget that there are also other way to contribute to the dock (by fixing bug, helping other people, etc. ... and... by donating!!!)
Whoaw!
Is it already implemented?
forcing all applications and desktop environments even not linked with Gnome to adopt their point of view yes, it's true!
And I think it's also a problem for apps that can be used by children: it's easier to say "click on this icon" than "click on this text"...
PS: feel free to confirm this bug (Ubuntu GNOME devs have already dropped these options in Ubuntu 13.10): https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1228886

Yes, it can be nice to customise them (e.g. to have something like Gnome-Shell menus )
PS: note that on Gnome-Shell icons are on the right and I'm not sure that there are submenus. |

feel free to confirm this bug
done
Is it already implemented
yep
I'm trying to make it cleaner before I can push
by the way, if there is no critical bug, I think we can release this WE |

no way, but at least I'd like we have icons in the menus when gtk 3.10 is out, so I'll push only a part
and I have several things to push for the 3.3 too, but it's "just" bug fixes |

by the way, it's pushed on the trunk branch, it's very experimental, so please make some comment
especially, I think I won't keep the drawing of the items (it's a small animation but maybe too heavy for old PCs) |

I think I won't keep the drawing of the items (it's a small animation but maybe too heavy for old PCs) Yes but it looks very nice
Or having the possibility to disable it (e.g. when not using the OpenGL mode?)
I just have some problems with menus that are on the top:
Logout: the bottom of the menu is cropped
Menus from libindicator are cropped on the top
For NM-applet, the arrow is on the bottom |

e.g. when not using the OpenGL mode
it's drawn with cairo even if opengl is enabled.
on my netbook, it's a little bit jerky, but yes we can make it an option |

Magnifiques ces nouveaux menus !
D'autant plus qu'ils semblent régler les souci de menu trop étroit de certains applet (Transmission par exemple).
Ils sont configurables, ou pas encore ? |

Yes, I confirm
They are not customisable (yet).
Menus from Notification Area applet (e.g. nm-applet, dropbox, etc.) are not transparent but have the arrow (for nm-applet, the arrow is on the bottom and for Dropbox, it is on the top!) |

pas encore, mais c'est prévu
le but, c'est d'avoir les menus et les dialogues consistents (mêmes couleurs et formes)
et en plus, d'avoir une option pour prendre ces couleurs du thème GTK |

I just added a task to regroup ideas and bugs about this new menu style |
