Hello,

I have this problem: when I click on the trash applet in Cairo-dock, Audacious starts rather than Thunar and gives me a message error «Aucun décodeur trouvé pour file:///home/ciel/trash%3A/.» (see screen capture).

I tried the solution from this page: http://glx-dock.org/ww_page.php?p=Probl%C3%A8mes%20r%C3%A9currents&lang=fr#22-L%27applet%20Poubelle%20essaye%20d%27ouvrir%20Nautilus%20dans%20XFCE%20%C3%A0%20la%20place%20de%20Thunar,%20le%20navigateur%20par%20d%C3%A9faut. It was set on «Nautilus» but to change it to Thunar did not change anything.

I can still access the trash from Thunar and to option to empty the trash works from the trash applet.

I have the idea that it could be a problem with the files types (MIME) linked to Audacious, but I can't see which one it would be.

Infos about OS, graphic card etc. in screen capture as well.

Any idea what to change?

Thanks

NL

Edit: forgot to link the Screen capture. http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/1844/cran20130519170526.png

it's most probably a problem with the mime base indeed
maybe you can try to fix it with the gvfs-mime tools
I think google can help you more than me on the exact command

Thanks for the replay, Fabounet

I tried using gvfs-mime, but it appears that it can only work on one MIME-type at the time. I can also edit the MIME list directly or use xfce4-mime-settings.

I don't really understand. I almost got rid of Audacious in all declared mime-types and it keep opening instead of Thunar.

I uninstalled it via Synaptic and the Trash applet came back to its normal behavior.

I also tried to deactivate some extensions in Audacious and got this message:
«Impossible de charger file:///home/ciel/.config/audacious/playlists/1001.audpl : extension non prise en charge.
Aucun décodeur trouvé pour file:///home/ciel/trash%3A/.»

What is exactly the code sent by the trash applet when we click on it?

I think you can reproduce this bug by using this command:
gvfs-open trash://

Can you also check the content of this file? ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list (or post the content here)

Hello,

You're right, gvfs-open trash:// opens Audacious as well.

In fact, I wonder if the problem is actually in this file since I already tried to replace all Audacious occurences by another app (notepad - this is why you see «x-content/audio-cdda=userapp-notepad-NIEKXW.desktop;», that I should correct) and the problems was still there.

When I used xfce4-mime-settings after changing all Audacious to another, I was still seeing a lot of type set as «Default», which bring me to think that there could be another mime type list in the system.

Also,
gvfs-mime --query trash://
Aucune application par défaut pour « trash:// »

And what's the output messages produced by these commands
gvfs-mime --query inode/directory
mimeopen -d .

Do you have the same problem when using:
gvfs-open file:///

If you only have this bug with the trash, is it better after having added this line in ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list:
x-scheme-handler/trash=Thunar-folder-handler.desktop

1- gvfs-mime --query inode/directory
Application par défaut pour « inode/directory » : Thunar-folder-handler.desktop
Applications enregistrées :
    Thunar-folder-handler.desktop
    audacious.desktop
Applications recommandées :
    Thunar-folder-handler.desktop
    audacious.desktop

(I already added x-scheme-handler/trash=Thunar-folder-handler.desktop in the MIME-type list)

2- mimeopen -d .
Please choose a default application for files of type inode/mount-point

    1) Open Folder with Thunar (Thunar-folder-handler)
    2) Audacious (audacious)
    3) Other...

use application #1
Opening "." with Open Folder with Thunar (inode/mount-point)

Followed by Thunar opening root(/) folder.

3- gvfs-open file:///

Thunar opens root folder.

4- Adding
x-scheme-handler/trash=Thunar-folder-handler.desktop
works more or less. Now, Thunar opens, but in the Home directory. At least, it is way less of a problem than to have to close Audacious + loosing my active play list in the process.

Do you know if there is a way to get right to the trash folder? Can I insert something in the line to go, per example, to /home/ciel/.local/share/Trash/files/? If there is no way to achieve it, I would still be ok with the actual situation since there is no big deal to simply click on trash after Thunar is opened.

Thanks a lot for your help.

I guess there is a bug with your mimetypes or there is maybe something wrong with Audacious but as workaround, I guess you can do that:
  • copy Thunar-folder-handler.desktop from /usr/share/applications/ to ~/.local/share/applications/
  • rename it (e.g.: Thunar-trash-folder.desktop)
    cp /usr/share/applications/Thunar-folder-handler.desktop ~/.local/share/applications/Thunar-trash-folder.desktop
  • edit it and modify the line with exec= by:
    exec=thunar trash:///
  • edit this file: ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list and replace
    x-scheme-handler/trash=Thunar-folder-handler.desktop
    by
    x-scheme-handler/trash=Thunar-trash-folder.desktop
    (the new name)

SOLVED!!!

I tried
exo-preferred-applications
to see if the default Apps where the right one. The only app that had changed from my preferences was Firefox (?) which I set back to favorite web browser and I changed, then confirmed all other Apps including Thunar as File manager. For some reason, the trash applet started to open the trash folder.

I am really not sure if it comes from those tries or if the action of the other operations was just delayed before to come in effect...

Anyways, the problem is now solved.

Thanks a lot for your help. It is very appreciated!!
