Hello,

It's easier to see this bug when opening the config windows or adding a new applet, dropping a file into the dock, etc. (I guess it's just because the dock takes more time to open the config panel or to add a new applet and draw the icon at the same time):

With the default theme (default-panel) I don't have this bug! Maybe because my taskbar is on the right of the dock and a new icon is created at the end?

Yes, I confirm! I only this bug with the background when the taskbar is placed at the beginning or at the end of the dock (and if I'm playing with the first/last icon)

I vaguely remember replacing a redraw_icon with a redraw_container somewhere in the cairo backend, so I guess that did the trick

In fact, it seems I still have this bug but now only when adding creating a stack icon:

Open VLC (the icon should be the last icon on the right of the dock)
Open the settings window of VLC (the icon is now modify and it displays a stack with 2 icons)

=> We can see the bug but it's quick!
