Not sure if this is a bug or something I have misconfigured.
Ran into this same issue before in 11.10 where it was a matter of changing the program name to lower case from Rhythmbox to rhythmbox and the same with banshee.
Have tried both variations and tinkered with a few different things to no avail. When set to lower case it will open the program and act as a launcher where if I click on the icon it will bring up the window but does not track the currently playing song.
The odd part is that it will pickup the first song to play and then stop tracking without ever switching to the CD case icon
Any ideas? |

When I relaunch cairo-dock with rhythmbox already open it will display the currently playing song on rollover but without switching to the cd cover icon -- any changes in rhythmbox fail to create additional debug output |

This applet works fine for me with RB.
org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.rhythmbox presence on the bus: 0
PS: Don't hesitate to use the latest stable version (3.0.1) by adding our ppa  |

only 1 plug-in is needed in RB (MPRIS1 or MPRIS2)
of course, MPRIS2 is better.  but MPRIS1 should work too.
was MPRIS1 activated or not before you edit the preferences ? |

MPRIS (assuming 1) works alone
disabling MediaServer2 stopped all interaction as before |
