Cairo ver - 3.0.1 weekly updates
With effects (no unity)
Ubuntu 12.4 64 bit
Compiz (what comes standard)
Gnome
Computer 1
Using opengl
Intel 2405S Sandy Bridge w/ 4GB ram
Computer 2
Nvidia
Intel Q9300 w/4GB ram

After updating to the latest weekly build I noticed that the clock now has a background when it didn't before. I looked at the clock setup but can't find any reference about a background other than the dock. This is happening on two computers. Any ideas? Please see screenshot.

Thanks

Hello and thank you for this bug report.

How are you using the clock applet (in a second dock or in a a desklet mode)?
Do you have the same "problem" with or without OpenGL (you can launch the dock without OpenGL with this command: cairo-dock -c)
If the clock applet is in a second dock, you can change this background in the configuration panel of this clock applet.

Please be more specific as to exactly where the background can be changed in the configuration. As I stated earlier I can't find it.

Right click on the clock applet / Clock / Edit / Always display the icon, even when the dock is hidden? => With custom background and modify this option Background color to add in this case

The clock is on the second dock and the clock stays visable all the time. While the clock is visable wothout the dock, the background should be transparent but it now has a fix background color as shown in my earlier photo.

And is it better after having set a custom and transparent.background?

I don't see a transparent selection? I can pick any color but transparent.

To make sure that I have described the problem completely...I have Cairo Dock ver 3.0.0.1 installed on a 3rd computer ubuntu 12.04 32 bit and it works fine. The clock has a transparent background by default. Here is a photo of what I call it working correctly without a background:

Ok, I see the problem. If you set a fully transparent colour, you've this white background.
@ fabounet: can you have a look to this bug?

But there is a workaround: simply modify the global background colour when the dock is hidden (Advanced mode of the config panel / Background) and use this default background colour in Clock settings

If the clock applet is in a second dock, you can change this background in the configuration panel of this clock applet.

it doesn't depend on which dock the applet is in

usually, when you want to set some applets always visible, you will select "with default background" for each of them, and set up a color in the global configuration under "Background" (in advanced mode), which will be transparent if you don't want a background.

so the problem is when you set a custom fully transparent background color for the applet ?

thanks for reporting this, I'll take a look

Yes but it's in the advanced mode
(maybe we should add this information as quick-info for this option, no?)
