our script is much better
(except I didn't have time to fix the few mistakes inside )
we should write an artticle about it, I think more and more people are interested in a compiz standalone session .

Yes and it seems that on webupd, they are using an Ubuntu-2D session with slightdot as dash and gnome-settings-daemon... It's a kind of "light" gnome session...
