- The version of Cairo-Dock ('cairo-dock -v' in a terminal). 2.3.0
- Your GNU/Linux distribution (Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, etc.). Linux Mint Debian XFCE4
- Or you using OpenGL or not. I don't know.
- Your Window manager (Compiz, Metacity, Kwin, Openbox, etc.). XFCE4, I think.
- Your Desktop Environment (Gnome, KDE, XFCE, etc.) XFCE4
I have a minor hobby of installing multiple installs of Debian-type distros in partitions on my #1 drive. I decided to try to stick with XFCE4 with all of them, but Cairo Dock is just too much better working and better looking.
So with my new install of the new Debian version of Linux Mint XFCE4, I added Cairo dock from the repositories. It worked fine as I made a number of customizations.
Then I got to hankering for a different theme. I found one I liked in the list provided and switched to it. All was well, except that I lost the task bar applet. When I went to the settings, that was grayed out. I decided maybe it was a theme thing, so I switched back to my original theme (which I had saved). Now I have two docks, one for each theme! Help!

hmm, can we have a screenshot of the grayed config window please ?
as for the 2 docks, you can probably delete the 2nd one from the menu (on right-click)
or just move all of the icons inside the 1st main dock (including separators, sometimes they can be hard to detect ) |

That problem seems to have gone away, and I now have the taskbar applet in the bottom dock. It may have been a conflict with the XFCE4 taskbar. I think I've seen an error message about that until I deleted the XFCE4 taskbar from its panel.

Well, now it seems they're really not two docks, but simply a second nonworking (icons don't expand, don't execute) background image of the bottom dock. For example, the background image is showing everything in the front working image, including the current running tasks in the taskbar. Here's a screenshot that shows the problem.

isn't it running 2 times ? or maybe that's a bug in the XFCE compositor ? |

Yeah, I think it's just an image problem. I tried to execute something with the "back" dock, but it only does things with the front one.

Euh I have to say i have encountered similar behaviour with creating other docks, and they were quite har to remove. Maybe there shoud be a condition in the code that docks should never be positionned at the same place. |
