I have just updatet cairo-dock on debian. Since then cairo-dock refuses to start, when I do the following in a terminal
cairo-dock -o
I get the following result
Cairo-Dock version: 2.3.0~2
Compiled date: May 3 2011 11:15:07
Running with OpenGL: 1
warning : (/build/buildd/cairo-dock-2.3.0~2/src/gldit/cairo-dock-module-manager.c:cairo_dock_load_module:167)
while opening module '/usr/lib/cairo-dock/libcd-mail.so' : (libetpan.so.13: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
cairo-dock: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libgldi.so.2: undefined symbol: gtk_window_set_has_resize_grip
If I start cairo-dock without openGL ext, the behaviour is the same. Here's the list of my installed packages
ii cairo-dock 2.3.0~2-2~debian A light and eye-candy dock to launch your programs (metapackage)
ii cairo-dock-core 2.3.0~2-2~debian A light and eye-candy dock to launch your programs (core package)
ii cairo-dock-data 2.3.0~2-2~debian A light and eye-candy dock to launch your programs (common files)
ii cairo-dock-plug-ins 2.3.0~2-4~debian A set of plug-ins for cairo-dock
ii cairo-dock-plug-ins-data 2.3.0~2-4~debian Common files for cairo-dock-plug-ins
ii cairo-dock-plug-ins-integration 2.3.0~2-4~debian Two plug-ins for cairo-dock for a better integration in GNOME,
I have had a very similar inadequacy in package versions about a year ago, the solution then was to update to the beta packages. I would like to avoid that at this time. I followed exactly the installation guidelines for the debian unstable repo.
Here's the line in my /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://download.tuxfamily.org/glxdock/repository/debian unstable cairo-dock
I had invoked aptitude dist-upgrade after the update of cairo-dock, there was nothing needed to be installed.
I appreciate any possible help very much,

Hello and thank you for this bug report!
Ok I've added a workaround but...
I don't know if I'll continue to maintained this repository for debian... Or only for the unstable version... because we currently use an Ubuntu distribution to build these packages for Debian by using an Ubuntu ppa... It's really not adviced but it's much more easy and fast than using pbuilder or a debian machine...
But I can maybe use pbuilder only to build stable versions of Cairo-Dock for Debian Unstable users... I don't know |

matttbe - Thank you very much for your response! You pointed me in the right direction - the problem is solved! I first tried to install the stable version after changing my apt repository list. That didn't work out, a missing library called something like 'libetpan' was simply not available on my debian testing system. So I decided to build the packages myself following the guidelines for that on the cairo-dock website. This did the trick - everything worked out faultless, and I'm seeing my personal cairo-dock with all it's previous settings back again. I should mention that this is a amd64 system.
Thanks again, and in general for cairo-dock, which is one of my favourite applications.
Best regards

Oh, I should have logged in prior to posting a message - the previous message was buy me. I would like to update that the dock is running fine - except the System monitor applet - this does only show the graph style, not the gauge. When I choose the gauge, it shows nothing, just a blank area. |
