Hello!
I have a strange problem with the dock background, on the right. Only positioning there the dock has the effect of black bg, on the left, top and bottom sides false transparence works. I use the "-c" option, cause (/build/buildd/cairo-dock-2.2.0-0beta0-20100528/src/cairo-dock-opengl.c:cairo_dock_initialize_opengl_backend:171) and even if it works, the rendering is poor.
Ubuntu lucid
ATI Radeon XPRESS 200M 5955 (PCIE)
pekwm+pcmanfm+stalonetray
cairo-compmgr (with or without the problem is still there)
cairo dock 2.2.0-0beta0 |

Hello,
Thank you for this bug report!
Can you post a screenshot on uppix.net, imageshark.us, etc. or with the "Drag and Drop" (dnd2share) applet and post the link here?
ATI Radeon XPRESS 200M 5955 (PCIE)
cairo-compmgr (with or without the problem is still there)
cairo dock 2.2.0-0beta0 Can you try with the latest version (2.2.0-0beta1 available on our weekly ppa), with and without the OpenGL backend? Can you also try with xcompmgr (just install and launch it)? |

Well...
Upgraded to the latest version from the ppa: no change.
Xcompmgr as well: no change.
I did some experiments and found that moving the bar around I could find the background, but it is not where I expected. It looks like moving the bar shifts the fake bg up and left. I made a few screenshots (I've loved dnd2share, great! Perhaps I feel the need of a progress indicator) here they are:

Hope You can guess what happens to my bg |

Strange! Maybe something wrong with drivers... ?
Only positioning there the dock has the effect of black bg, on the left, top and bottom sides false transparence works. Can you try to disable the false transparence and launch the compositing (with your wm or with Xcompmgr)
Also, can you post the debug when you launch CD with |

disabling false transparence has no effect. Until I drag the bar over the screen. Dong that I noticed that the bg isn't drawn under the bar.
debug info form terminal: http://dl.free.fr/pHxAzpIyy
Did You notice the behaviour of the bar and the wallpaper? I hope that the video is clear enough. The bar's copy of the desktop does not follow the mouse, it just seems to behave a different way... |

Yesssssss! tres bien! BZR version is perfectly working!
It works well with compositing too, but some icons does not show or show too much small and a black hole appears between launchers and taskbar.

yep, poor graphic drivers...
maybe it's better in your case to run the dock with the -c option instead of -o. |

!!! Don't forget the Anti-spam filter !!!
I am using Cairo_dock for a while and i found some problem or incompatibility. I saw many massages about black background and how to fix it. But my problem with black background is happening onl when a use some softwares like RKWards, but more than that only if a use some combined of R (S-Plus Free language) code like lengend(locator()). I have a guess that is a poor graphic drive but I dont know how to figure it out. |

you can try with "cairo-dock -c" (no opengl)
if it works flawlessly, then it's probably a driver issue.
what is your graphic card and drivers ? |
