Once more upgrading CairoDock turned out fatal to me. Once again, the docks (except tray dock) are invisible and my computer is unusable).
How can I fix it or at least download older DEB package?

Guest, Saturday 22 May 2010 à 18:34

I reinstalled nvidia drivers and now can see the dock but:

1. it won't autohide, no matter the settings
2. there is a black square in the background obscuring view of windows/desktop behind the docks.

I think you didn't upgrade only the dock ...

Guest, Saturday 22 May 2010 à 21:54

I fixed that already. Somehow, upgrade broke my compiz.

HOWEVER, docks don't hide now.

which visibility option do you have in the config panel ?

Guest, Sunday 23 May 2010 à 01:49

Activate Auto-hide: yes

there is no such option in the current version, you have a single menu with all the choices available.
the one corresponding to the previous "auto-hide" is "keep the dock hidden" or a similar name.

v 2.2.0-0beta0

RMC->Cairodock->Conf this dock->Activate auto-hide->X = NO effect

oh I see, you're talking about a 2nd main dock.
so this is fixed now (this option has disappeared, you can now select a visibility like for the main dock)
it's available on the BZR version if you don't want to wait for the next weekly release.

When is the next weekly release going to be released?
I don't mean to sound ungrateful because it is a great piece of software, BUT it is N-th time that a version of CD is released with some serious bug. Shouldn't there be some testing before every release?

this is not a release, this is a beta.
the weekly PPA is for people wanting the latest features earlier; if you use it, you are a beta-tester (and I thank you for the all the bugs you can report )

Guest, Monday 24 May 2010 à 13:59

Ok. But when?
And how do I replace auto ppa updated with full version updates?

weekly = once a week

Guest, Wednesday 26 May 2010 à 22:39

I just updated again and the dock still does not hide.
What's more, even the option to auto-hide disappeared.

Do you have this bug with all visibility options? (when a window is above the dock, when a window is maximised, etc.)

And can you confirm that your WM is Compiz, your DE is Gnome and your distribution is Ubuntu 9.10?
Do you have this bug with Metacity instead of Compiz? (Press ALT+F2 and launch this command: "metacity --replace" (to revert back: "compiz --replace"))

Guest, Wednesday 26 May 2010 à 23:35

Metacity make the dock have balck background under unfolding menus.

However, I discovered that Hide menu is working for me and the menu is actually hiding. However, placing this option with others like "always keep on top" I think it is a bit misleading, as those should be selectable while 'hiding' is (un)selected.

I have spoken too soon. The dock hides ones, then it stops. I already had this bug with one of the previous versions...

Heloooo. Anybody here?

And by the way, when will you change this forum engine to something that supports email notifications? It is really obsolete and inconvenient.

there is a button for email notifications on the top of the page
about your bug, could you please try :
mv ~/.config/cairo-dock/current_theme ~/.config/cairo-dock/current_theme.bak

and then restart the dock, and tell me exactly the actions you do to make the bug appear ?
