Hello!
I've had some issues with Intel graphics driver today morning. This brings me to using "emulate compositing" option of the CD fro some time. And what surprised me a lot is that "auto hide the dock when maximized window available" auto hide option works really bad with fake compositing. When we have maximized window dock doesn't hide itself, it just appears below the window, and it doesn't come to foreground when we move pointer to the edge of the screen.
Do you support such combination of
Are such options as "emulate compositing" and "auto hide the dock when maximized window available" supposed to work correctly together? |

Hello!
Mmh, I think not. Now with this mode, the dock isn't "minimised" but it's transparent in order to show only one animated icon when there is something (to prevent the user).
But maybe Fabounet has a workaround for that... |

actually the dock is kept below other windows when using fake transparency
this is because otherwise, you would see a rectangular part of the wallpaper above your windows.
so the best way to use this is with the "reserve space" option, and try to make your dock less height (smaller icons, smaller reflects or maybe just the "Default" view) |

@fabounet thanks for hint!
The reasons why I've asked about this is simple: CD is not usable with such combinations of options. Actually I don't care about "rectangular part of the wallpaper above your windows" I just want to be able to switch between windows with CD, even if I have maximized window on my desktop. And I don't really want to change my configuration of the CD. |

taiebot65 : Have you heard about metacity ?
Sure The problem wasn't in Compiz and inability to use it, the problem was with the driver for Intel graphic card. It just stops working... So I wasn't able to use any compositing. |
