Hi, first of all, sorry for my bad english, i'm italian, i'm using cairo on ubuntu 9.10, everything works great except for the "shortcuts" desktop tool... if i click on the icon then for example on "home" nothing happens... then if i click another time on any other shortcut it opens the first and the second... for example, 1 click on "home"... nothing... another click on home -> 2 windows home opens... and that's annoying... is there any way to solve this?

ps. sorry for the bad explanation, by the way, i'm talkin' about this plugin:

It is a known bug of Nautilus. Nothing to do with Cairo-Dock from what I understand

Welcome to the forum

you can report it at Launchpad, the Nautilus devs would maybe consider fixing it.

oh, ok... i'll report this... anyway thanks for help!

I've tried to open a folder from the desktop, not from cairo and it opens at first time... so, it can't be a nautilus problem... right? >.<

the folders on the desktop are drawn by Nautilus, they are part of it, so of course Nautilus can open a new window itself
actually it is more likely a Gvfs problem the dock "just" launches the URI (path to the folder), without knowing which application will open it. It doesn't call Nautilus, it's Gvfs which will decide, and execute the correct application
But, this only happens with Nautilus, so it may still be a bug in Nautilus.
So reporting the thing to them is relevant I think.
Thanks

Alright, I would look into this. For me shortcuts works hardly at all, so I stopped using it although I found this to be one of the most useful applets (if it were stable).
Sometimes it opens the folder, but once it stops working, it will not work on any subsequent clicks until I restart cairo-dock. Frankly, for me this seems to be a hint that the bug may as well be in cairo-dock itself.

Anyway, I would investigate this and create a bug report upstream. It would be great if you could give me some more information:

ppmt, you say it is a "known bug of nautilus". Could you provide a bit more info about it (bug reports, forum posts, etc.)?

fabounet, could you tell me the command used by cairo-dock to launch the URI?

It doesn't use a command but Gvfs library (so it uses a function in C)

Hmm, I see - and this is already above my head...
Just checked with verbose and a greb on vfs, the output is no different when it works and when it does not.

Any other infos or ideas to narrow down the problem a bit, that would help me file a bug report?

ok when I said it is a known bug may be I was over stating. What I meant is that it is something we noticed already. I have also seen
other people mentionning it and they are not using the dock.

ye, the known bug is "the first time you click on a folder, nautilus will not open, but after that it's ok", and it is a Nautilus or gvfs bug.
so maybe there is another bug here, not related to this one. Did you try by deactivating the disk usage option ?
