Hi all, I'm an old user of cairo dock, and maybe someone could remember me from Shiki-Colors theme. After one years of gnome-do docky envyronment I do back to ur application for release a new theme (I'm working on it and I hope that u will appreciate my work ). Since the bar uses a lot of things have been improved and many others have been added without a real test of compatibility with the desktop manager, I think, in fact, that from the configuration menu, the dock is increasingly distant from the world of Gnome or KDE . The menu is scattered over a bowl of soup, millions of options that cancel each other!
Anyway I will prepare a mockup of the configuration page that is really horrible, have you made the transparency but then there are trivial problems with the rendering of fonts. On these damn font I want to know if you have any ideas on how to improve readability. If you need a screenshot of the font I can do it.

Stay connect for Cairo-Humanity theme.

I forgot, when I talk about my desktop integration peak is represented by Docky.

For your image <- EDIT : it's now ok

Mmmh, only 3 options in Accessibility menu can cancel another... but this normal if you have a look to these parameters !

In System module you can remove this transparency. But you can share your mockup

Cause you're using html link instead of bbcode link.

If you know how to get the system font, I'm ok to use it as default
also, did you do your tests with the cairo backend or the OpenGL one ? I find OpenGL less accurate than cairo.

On Gnome with Gconf, it's easy but on other DE

PS : if Gnome-Do offers less possibilities (only default font, less views, etc.) it's normal that there are less bugs...

indeed, but we can't use such an argument to justify ours

I'm not a developer, sorry

There is a proposal for integrating OpenGL in Docky2. Sure but we really need all that options? I don't think =)
I think that the first problem is the fonts rendering in your application, and don't forget that I do not want to criticize, but offer a way to improve the application. I am a fan of Cairo-Dock but there is a shadow of a new application on your work, and if they integrate OpenGL in docky we see little hope of cairo-dock on many PCs.

we are 1 year in front of them, so ne need to worry too much
plus, the only advantage of Docky was to be integrated in Gnome-Do, which is over.

anyway, about the font rendering, I've found the way to get the default font under Gnome, but not under the other DE :/
so what I could do is to add a check button to say wether to use the default font, or the custom one.

about blur, do yo unotice it with the cairo backend ?
also (I don't remember), are you on the latest version ? I've made a little change on the labels, so that they get display on an exact pixel (to avoid blur)

Are now on version one week, you're right fonts are best seen with the engine Cairo. On the new version as you yourself have said are a bit more readable with OpenGL. I also think that in view slide labels should be under the icon and with a font smaller than that used in the icons of the toolbar. Often the text goes off the edge and a AutoCut could be ideal.

thanks for testing the latest version
I've noticed that the OpenGL rendering is always less perfect than the cairo one, maybe it is due to poor quality drivers, I don't know exactly.
So do you consider it satisfying or not yet ?

Sure fabounet, but I think that we need that option for use default font in gnome, or better the normal font + one unit (expample my fonts are at 8, on cairo-dock 8+4). I have another question I can redraw the panel of options, summarized and above using the icons using the desktop environment?

sorry I didn't understand the question
the desktop environment is automatically detected by the dock (at least, it should detect it)
