Firefox crashes when try print with Cairo-1.4.14 installed.
Is it possible to use the last version of Cairo with glitz?

Short answer : No

I had the same problem and my problem was found by a troubleshooter to be related to a cairo library introduced by glitz

Actually I saw you posted as well on the bug report

I installed Cairo v1.7.1 with a patch applied to it (git version), pixman v0.11.9 (git version) and glitz v0.5.7
Compiled cairo-dock v1.6.1.2 (tar package) and now I can print with Firefox 3.0 and use cairo-dock with glitz.
I saw you to.

seems a bit to technical for me all that!

Does Glitz works by the way because for me it wouldn't work anyway!

Yes, glitz does work.
It is not too technical, I just follow Fabounet's hint from his message ( http://www.glx-dock.org/bg_topic.php?t=1471&pos=0#mess_19572 ).
To get the last Cairo and Pixman just type at the terminal:
git clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/cairo

(if you don't have "git" installed just type sudo apt-get install git-core to install it)

git clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/git/pixman

The patch to change the "git" version of Cairo you download from:
http://download.tuxfamily.org/ccm/glitz/0001-Fix-glitz-support-for-24.8-fixed-point.patch

The changed Glitz you download from:
http://download.tuxfamily.org/ccm/glitz/glitz-0.5.7.tar.bz2

Uninstall Cairo-1.4.14 , glitz-0.5.6 and the pixman (I don't know the version you have).
Then apply the downloaded patch to the "git" version of Cairo and it will change three files.
To apply the patch, copy the file 0001-Fix-glitz-support-for-24.8-fixed-point.patch to cairo ("git") directory and use in a terminal at that directory the command:

patch -p0 < 0001-Fix-glitz-support-for-24.8-fixed-point.patch

(if you have problems, you can see more information about the command "patch" at "man patch" in a terminal )

Compile glitz-0.5.7, pixman ("git" version that now is 0.11.9) and Cairo("git" version that now is v1.7.1) with glitz enabled.
Compile cairo-dock, plug-ins and themes.
run cairo-dock --glitz
And voilá.
If you have some problems with the colors of the icons labels, reboot your computer and everything should work fine.
By the way, now you'll be able to print with Firefox 3.0.

as I said.... as simple as it sounds to you....it is scaring me just to read it

I have fixed my printing problem so I don't want to create another one by messing up the system again....I have a mariage at stake here man!
