Now I would like to do some anouncement.

cairo-dock / cairo-dock-plug-ins are now back to Fedora again.

cairo-dock was removed from Fedora on 2009 due to some legal issue, especally the "zoom" effect of cairo-dock.
Now to make legal judgment passed on Fedora, with the great help of matttbe, I removed the relevant code from cairo-dock
tarball on Fedora, which was granted okay by Red Hat legal authority. Now re-review request was passed and
cairo-dock / cairo-dock-plug-ins are again imported into Fedora:

https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2015-2770/
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2015-2839/
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2015-2814/

So on Fedora,
for people trying using Fedora's cairo-dock, just do
$ sudo yum install cairo-dock

This installs cairo-dock-core, with zoom effect removed, and almost all stable plug-ins
(except for weblets). It also installs gnome/kde/xfce integrations and python2 bindings.

For people who wants to use zoom effect, it is packaged on rpmfusion repository.
First, enable rpmfusion repository as below.
  • Fedora 22 and rawhide user
    $ sudo yum install http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-rawhide.noarch.rpm
  • Fedora 21 user
    $ sudo yum install http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-21.noarch.rpm
  • Fedora 20 user
    $ sudo yum install http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-20.noarch.rpm

Then
$ sudo yum install cairo-dock-freeworld

The above installs Fedora side cairo-dock (core and plug-ins), plus rpmfusion side cairo-dock-core. With this,
you will see zoom effect is enabled again.

Note that current Fedora / rpmfusion cairo-dock version is 3.4.0, and I will update them to 3.4.1 (it may take one or two weeks due to Fedora / rpmfusion package updating procedure)

By the way, as cairo-dock (currently 3.4.1) is available on Fedora and rpmfusion, I want to have wiki updated or want to update wiki (note that currently all stable plug-ins are available). To whom can I ask for this?

Hello mtasaka,

Sorry for this huuuuge delay, we were very busy :-/

Many thanks for your help to re-add Cairo-Dock into Fedora repos!
We should maybe give you a patch to notify Fedora users that the zoom effect has been disabled. I hope we will find some time to do that!

I just added to you the permission to modify our wiki pages (it was disabled for all users due to spams...). If you need help to update the wiki pages, I can help you!

Thanks,

Matt
