Has you should know i work on openSUSE. I have a question for you..
What do you think to host here http://repository.glx-dock.org
an official openSUSE 10.3 Repository?
I will maintain it and i'll package for 32 and 64 bit too. |

The repository is ready!
great news !
did you use the last version 1.5.4.2 ?
i'm using some standards that are:
all packages are signed bye my personal PRIVATE KEY (the public one will be auto-downloaded bye yast, manual downlaod here: http://repository.glx-dock.org/openSUSE_10.3/repodata/repomd.xml.key)
packages name follow that standard:
packagename-pluginname-version-release.cd.snapshot
what does it means? EASY.
packagename = always cairo-dock (of course(
pluginname = is the name of specific plugin (example: alsaMixer)
version = is the cairo-dock version (example 1.5.4.2)
release = is the release number (if i want to upgrade the same package version, to fix a packaging bug for example)
cd = means Cairo-Dock (it easier to me to understand the it is MY OWN package and not a one made bye somebody else)
snapshot = is the snapshot date (example: 20080406)
that is an example of the plugins alsaMixer
cairo-dock-alsaMixer-1.5.4.2-0.cd.20080406.i586.rpm |

ok, I guess you've made a script to do the whole process in one pass.
do you follow the "Applet.stable" file in the plug-ins' directory, or do you include unstable applets too ? |

is a my choice package all plugins...
right now there is a metapackage that allow to install ALL avaible plugins (without DE-integrations)if you want i could made 3 metapackages like that:
cairo-dock-plugins-stable
cairo-dock-plugins-unstable
cairo-dock-plugins-all |

The best is to completely removed stuff about 10.1 and SLED 10....they are too old and you can't get the dock wihtout breaking some libraries...
It has already been removed from the english version |

as we said before we will let distributions make their own packages, and decide what they will put inside. We merely recommend them a list of "must-have" plug-ins, and a list of "stable" plug-ins.
don't know if it's the right choice, we'll it see with time
personnaly I don't distribute unstable applets in the .deb because newbies could be confused and not understand why their dock is crashing sometimes ^_^ but you're free to do it |
