Hey folks! I seem to be having some problems trying to get Cairo-Dock running correctly on my net-book on a fresh OS install. Running on Arch Linux with XFCE and Compton for compositing. (Cairo-Dock is version 3.2.2 installed via standard community repo.)

The dock loads alright with various buttons and launchers working as expected (none of that black box stuff). However, none of the dialogues seem to display any content correctly. They all just display as blank white frames. This means I can't seem to change the theme or remove launchers via right click, as the dialogue to confirm these changes just loads a blank grey rectangle. (Attaching a screenshot so you can see: http://imgur.com/FTfhoux )

Seems to be an issue regardless of whether I load under -o (OpenGL) or -c (cairo compositing). (I also saw this note (http://glx-dock.org/ww_page.php?p=Recurrents%20problems&lang=en#28-The dock or its dialogues are invisible) under recurring problems about dialogues being invisible, but the -W flag also doesn't fix anything either.)

In case it helps, here's the output and error messages from the terminal when I launch it from there:

What am I missing here?

Hey,

What am I missing here?
Mmmh, this is a good question...
I have no idea why you have this bug. Maybe a problem with XFWM/Compton? Or you can check if the text colour in these dialogues is correct in the advanced mode of the config panel but I guess it's not the problem...

I was having this issue as well and noticed that the text was white on a white box. I didn't know how to change it until I read this post. I went into the dialogue settings in the advanced mode and set the dialogue box to a light transparency and the text colour to black and it is fine on my system now.

!!! Don't forget the Anti-spam filter !!!
Hi, I am having the same problem and changing the properties of box/text does not solve it. Strange thing is that in Gnome the dialogues are visible but in XFCE of KDE they are not. Any idea?

I was getting this problem too. The solution was to erase all of the xfce4 settings in /.config /xfce4 and restart X.
It was an xfce4 problem as cairo-dock worked fine in twm. I know this refers to a fresh install ... but the symptoms exhibited were identical.

Cheers

Gary
