Hi, this is my first post here, and neither english nor french is my native language...
I used awn for a long time, but now the active development seems to be cancelled. It is removed from Debian 7 and Ubuntu 12.10.
I gave Docky a try, but it crashed some times every day.
So next I tried cairo-dock, and wenn I first started it, I got the message:
No plug-in were found .. the application will quit now.
Here I found similar messages:
http://www.glx-dock.org/bg_topic.php?t=4390
Since cairo didn't find the plugins in directory /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/cairo-dock, I made a link
ln -s /usr/lib/cairo-dock/ /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/cairo-dock
The error message is still the same, but now in the terminal a lot of messages like:
warning : (/tmp/buildd/cairo-dock-3.0.2/src/gldit/cairo-dock-module-manager.c:cairo_dock_load_module:167)
this module ('/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/cairo-dock/libcd-musicPlayer.so') was compiled with Cairo-Dock v3.0.0, but Cairo-Dock is in v3.0.2
It will be ignored
occur. Cairo-Dock version is
cairo-dock --version
3.0.0 (in Debian repo: cairo-dock and cairo-dock-core have 3.0.0-2+deb7u1, cairo-dock-plug-ins: 3.0.0-1 ).
What else?
3.2.0-4-686-pae i686 (32 bit) Distro Debian GNU/Linux 7
Graphics: Card Intel Mobile 945GSE Express Integrated Graphics Controller
Gnome, no OpenGL,
I would be glad, if I could use cairo-dock without compiling source myself or other tricks...
TIA |

Hello and you for this bug report,
Unfortunately, this bug is due to Debian packages and it should be reported to Debian maintainers.
But there is a solution: simply use our Debian repository! (don't forget to remove previous Cairo-Dock packages) ==> http://glx-dock.org/ww_page.php?p=From%20the%20repository&lang=en#3-Debian |

Thanks for the quick reply, now everything works (after enabling fake-transparency) fine! |
