It's a bug with the Intel driver. It's know, and I hope that will be resolve with the next Linux core (3.9). You can confirm that's happen here --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55036

if you can't update the drivers (but I see no reason), then run the dock without opengl
it will use the CPU instead of the graphic card, but everything is about the same

yes, these animations are only available with Opengl (because opengl is very fast, it has more animations)

No the problem here is "just" a problem with the video drivers... It doesn't mean that you will never use OpenGL backend but this bug has to be fixed.

The best thing to do now is to add new comments on this bug report: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55036 (at least just to say "You're not the only one. I also have an Intel 4000HD video card and I have exactly the same bug.")

I have the same problem, Ubuntu 13.10 ( kernel 3.11.0-15 ),Intel VGA .

Please confirm this bug too: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55036
(we can't do nothing without the help of these Intel devs )
