Hello guys!

I can see all the icons in the application menu when I start sessions. Then, after some hours, they disappear, being substituted by an "x". This happens also for the icons showed in the Systray. After some experiments, it seems to happen when Spotify app is opened in the systray. I don't know if it's that the problem, indeed it looks strange even to a novice like I am!

I've disabled OpenGl and almost all the effects, but the problem reiterates. I'm a brand-new user of Ubuntu, so I'm not able to solve the problem by myself and I've found Cairo Dock the best desktop for me! So, what I can do?

As I said on another post (http://glx-dock.org/bg_topic.php?t=6606&pos=20#mess_79217 -> are you the same guy?), there is maybe a crash in Gnome-settings-deamon.

Is it possible to launch this command before and after the bug and post output messages here?

ps aux | grep gnome-settings-daemon

Can you also launch the dock from a terminal

cairo-dock

and post here all new messages that you will have after the bug? If you re-launch the dock, do you still have this bug?

After the bug, can you also post the content of this file ~/.xsession-errors (a hidden file in your home directory) on pastebin.com and post the link here?

yeah. I'm the same guy, I've opened a new bug report as you asked me.

Thanks for the help, I'm going to post everything you asked me, but I can confirm it happens after I open Spotify.

maybe the Spotify notification icon brings an icon-theme with it, and disturbs other icons

you run cairo-dock -l debug > log.txt
then you launch spotify (the problem should occur), then you can just quit the dock and post the log.txt here

and if you close spotify completely, does it restore the icons ?

at the beginning all work...then after some time (mayb when the app skips from one song to another) the icons within the systray look with the "i" icon of the notification area...and the icons in the application menu disappear
no the icons are still missing, I must start a new session

Yes, I should be installed by default. (but can be easily disabled during an update of Compiz or something like that...

it seems it was already launched before the dock, then stopped, and re-launched.

could you please run:

find /tmp/sni-qt_spotify_*

I want to see if the icon-theme provided by spotify could overwrite the other icons
although I think it would cause the problem as soon as it is launched

but I don't see another way to reload the icons in the Applications menu

what if you start spotify, reproduce the bug, then change the icon theme of the system ?
