Heya guys,

I am not used to the Themes section but few days ago I've received through e-mail a message from a guy that could speak a lil bit of English. He attached a theme for Cairo-Penguim. This theme refers to a Gnu (kind of Wizard-Gnu) to be an alternative to the Penguim theme. His name is Ronald Forero, and all credits for this Theme goes to him. Since I am not used to themes, I just applied it as is, copying the folder to my "/usr/share/cairo-dock/plug-ins/Cairo-Penguin/themes".

It worked here, seems that the transition is not smooth between the frames of the animation, but I am not sure if that depends on something in my configuration. It would be nice If you guys, that know more about images than me, could take a look. Here is the link.

Cheers,

Hey
I think some animations have too few images (like 3 for walker.png), and some others have images that are too similar to each other, so it's not very smooth.
I admit it's not that easy to make a good theme, the default theme is by the way taken from Pingus (kudos to the team)

Hello Ronald,

Please have a look to this file: /usr/share/cairo-dock/plug-ins/Cairo-Penguin/themes/Classic/theme.conf
A few keys are wrong in your theme.conf file:
  • e.g. with walker.png: there are 12 images but 2 directions. So you should have something like that in your theme.conf file:
    [Walker]
    file = walker.png
    nb directions = 2
    nb frames = 6
    Note that you can also change the speed, etc. and it seems that these images need to be moved, just test
  • About Reader: mmh, there are no reader.xpm files in your tarball
  • About the keys, 'nb' means 'Number of (...)'. E.g.: nb frames means numbers of frames (numbers of images in this animation -> your image file will be split into X parts)

Note that you can also install your theme into: ~/.config/cairo-dock/extras/Cairo-Penguin/ (e.g.: ~/.config/cairo-dock/extras/Cairo-Penguin/Gunu/theme.conf). It's easier to edit files (but don't forget to remove files from /usr/share/cairo-dock/plug-ins/Cairo-Pinguins
