When I deactivate one of the start menus - Kickoff, Takeoff or Lancelot - but not only, the above mentioned icons appear: the first one for Kickoff and Takakeoff, and the second for Lancelot. Whilst the "Qt-subapplication" disappears immediately, the "plasma-desktop" stays, until I click either on the Dock or a window (but not on a panel or the desktop).

It happens with no other dock, or task manager. I've also already tried the default settings, as well as the very latest version of 3.0.99 - no difference.

thank you for reporting this
first of all, did it happen with the previous version of the dock (2.4) ?

then, could you please run the dock with debug traces:
cairo-dock -l debut > log.txt

reproduce the problem, and post the file log.txt here ?
thanks !

I could try, but the version in the repos (including PPAs) is 3.0.0, so it might be a bit problematic to get the older one.

I've just noticed two more things: First, clicking the "ghosts" always sends me back to the first desktop, as if the "window" was there. Second, the "plasma-desktop" also appears when I deactivate some Plasma panel pop-ups, like the device mounter or clock/calendar.

Here is the log: http://pastebin.com/pE3wdgSt

Today I dwongraded to KDE 4.8.5 and the problem is gone, so it's a 4.9-specific issue.

Hello,

Is it possible to report this bug to KDE devs (KWin maintainers)?

No problem, but are you 100% sure it's not a problem with the Dock itself, so they won't send me back?

If it's a 4.9-specific issue, I guess it's not due to the dock!
But if there is a problem with the dock, I guess they will help us to fix it because they know what has changed between these versions

@Guest: yes, feel free to add a comment there: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=305140

@Galvatron: It can be interesting to add the output messages produced by this command launched from a shell:
xprop
(and then select Kickoff, Takeoff or Lancelot window on KDE 4.8 and 4.9)

I'm terribly sorry, but in the meantime I've abandoned KDE for Unity, for good (I'm switching to Mac later this year). As stated in my bug report for KDE, it's a KDE 4.9-specific issue, so no need for you to trouble, because the problem is clearly on their side.

By the way: Thanks for making by far the best Linux dock, and maybe the best one at all. Good luck.:)

Hi, its solved now on my Arch with kde 4.9.2-1

Aside Note: i try to leave kde for gnome, lxde, openbox stand alone wm, compiz standalone wm, for me kde 4.9 it's the best compromise between functionality and speed, the customization level it's amazing for example i have two monitors and i can set window position, window order, omit task bar, initial size, default desktop for every app or dialog and hundreds of other options this is really great for web develop for example mi ide and browser are by defeault side by side and i can change with one button between them for test and result really quick, Dolphin its the other main reason.

I think that level of configuration and adaptability its only better in openbox.
