Hello and thank you for this bug report.

Unfortunately, it's not possible to know what's the problem here only with these output messages.
I don't know if debug symbols are installed but is it possible to give us a backtrace? It's not complicated because it's explained there: ddd

Arf, you don't have debug symbols. Can you check if you can install a package with a name like cairo-dock-dbg or cairo-dock-debug? If not, I think the only solution is to compile the dock and its plug-ins by yourself.

BTW, it seems it crashes in libcairo
I think it shouldn't crash there but I can't confirm only with these lines.

It's ok. Thanks, I've created another user and moved the current user's data there and the dock works fine in that one and root. I think the trouble started when I tried to create a shortcut of File System in the dock rather than using the docks' built in File Browser one, so now I use that one instead of dragging and dropping a File Manager shortcut.

Can I install version 3.0 in Vector Linux 7? The installations mentioned in this site are for other linux distros..i.e. Debian, Ubuntu etc.

We don't have any packages or repositories for this distribution (based on Slackware?) but you can compile it by yourself =>by compiling

seems like the cairo context is invalid (probably NULL), when doing CD_APPLET_SET_IMAGE_ON_MY_ICON in the Folders applet.

that's a big hint, however I can't guess why it would happen, but here is some possible workarounds:

- set an image to the applet, in its configuration
- set the icon display to be "stack" or "emblems" or "box"
- be sure a valid path is defined.

you can launch the dock in laintenance mode (cairo-dock -m) to be able to edit the applet's configuration.
