As mentioned in the title: After I rise a non-maximized window, by clicking its icon/launcher, the Dock will never automatically hide under the maximized windows, but will stay below the non-maximized ones. It will completely hide neither when I lower all the non-maximized windows, nor after a restart. In this cace I must always physically click on a maximized window to make the Dock go below it.

In other worlds, my "Keep the dock below" option works more like the "Hide the dock when it overlaps the current window". It might also be that something keeps calling the Dock back, because in the first moment it always vanishes for a second, but then instantly reappears.

I have the latest version of the Dock, from the "Cairo Dock Stable" PPA. I'm using OpenGL (GLX Dock) and Kwin as my window manager. The GPU is GeForce 7300GT + drivers 302.17.

I've already checked both the GLX and no-OpenGL version, as well as the option to hide when a window goes fullscreen - no difference.

Hello and thank you for this bug report,

I'm not able to reproduce this bug. Is it maybe possible to test with another Window Manager? I'm not sure that it's easy to modify the default WM on KDE, maybe Compiz?

I accidentally posted without first logging-in.

Just checked Compiz 0.8.6/0.8.8 (0.9.x doesn't work with KDE) and the problem doesn't occur. Have you maybe tried reproducing it with KDE 4.8.4, which is the version I use? Sorry for not specifying it earlier, but I haven't noticed until now.

@fabounet: can you have a look to this bug?

You have posted the answer in the wrong thread. Unfortunately there's no way to send you a private message, so I must bump the thread.

Could you please tell me if you have tried to reproduce my problem with KDE 4.8.4?

No because I don't have KDE but I think Fabounet has installed it a few months ago and I guess he will be able to fix this bug (if it's possible to reproduce it)

In other words, my "Keep the dock below" option works more like the "Hide the dock when it overlaps the current window".

well actually yes, the 2 options are quite similar
the main difference being that when a window overlaps a window, in a case it will be partly visible (because behind) and in the other case it will be invisible (hidden).
so a quick workaround would be to just use the smart auto-hide (aka window dodge) option.

since the bug doesn't occur with Compiz, I guess here is a new "Kwin special killer feature" I'll try to reproduce this at home (I'm still under 11.10 though).
