These problems are isolated to when I run Metacity rather than Compiz. I try to shut down or log off using the Cairo Dock shut down and nothing happens. Also, if I right click on a Cairo Dock app and select the app, if I try to delete or remove from dock, Cairo Dock locks up and is not functional until I kill and re-start the task.

Hello and thank you for this bug report,

Can you check that Cairo-Dock's dialogues are not bellow other windows? (=> can you try to remove a launcher or log off on a desktop without any visible windows?)

There are no other windows open. It appears to be hanging when the 'Yes / No' dialog box fails to appear, both when deleting apps from the dock, and on shutdown. For instance, when I try to shut down from Cairo and the dock locks up, I use the menu bar 'Shut Down'. As soon as the shut down init begins, the Cairo shut down 'Yes / No' dialog box appears. The problem is quite consistent.

And do you've the bug with the 3.0.1 version? You can simply add our repository/ppa to install it: From the repository

Yes, I'm experiencing these problems with 3.0.1

Can you also just check if the dialogue has the focus? (simply by pressing 'Enter' key when you should have the dialogue (e.g. by trying to remove a launcher)?)

Ok, that's the problem. Running Metacity the dialog has the focus but is not visible.

I should add I'm running a Unity 2D session

Same problem in Gnome Metacity session

could you please try with a bottom dock (or a top dock if it's already at the bottom) ?
do you have this problem with any dialogs ? (for instance when clicking on the clock, or middle-click on the Application Menu)

I added a top dock, and it does the same thing - dialog box never appears. The calendar appears when I click on the clock while running Compiz, but nothing happens when running a Metacity session

err, that's frustrating, what if you move the clock icon (for instance on the left of the dock or in the middle) ?
and what if you detach the clock applet from the dock ?

I hope they didn't break Metacity

Ok, I ran all the updates/upgrades including dist-upgrade. I can successfully move the clock in Metacity, but when I tried to detach the clock, the clock disappeared. I logged on using my Unity 2D Compiz session, and the clock was detached and positioned at the top left of my desktop.
