I am running OpenSuse 12.1 kde desktop. I added a few different Packman repos that I found both on your wiki page and one from the forums here. Both added correctly and I was able to install cario-dock without a problem. However there seems to be no cairo-dock-plugins anywhere in the repos I downloaded, and I cant run the dock without it. Any ideas where I can find this package?

repos I have already added:

did you try to search cairo-dock-plugins and cairo-dock-plug-ins ?

Guest, Wednesday 01 February 2012 à 01:32 | Quote

Yes I tried searching for them in yast but if could not find it, I tried many different representations of the words (tried with the hyphen, without, and moved it around). I also tried finding this package online but all I could find was the 11.4 version. When I tried to install this package, yast gave me an error stating there was no instructions for my current version (12.1) found.

well, if it's not in your distro, I think the best thing to do now is to report it to the maintainers, who can then add the missing package (because really, the core without the plug-ins is non-sense)

Hi guys, I have e-mailed packman  links2linux de which is supposed to be group responsible for maintaining openSUSE packages on Packman, so I will let you know if anyone replies! Cheers!

Thanks for all the replies, no this issue has not been resolved as of yet. I tried the above link however when I try to install I get an error saying it does not include instructions for this version of opensuse. I am running 12.1 the link is for 11.4.

Try adding repoes:
http://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/mirrors/packman/suse/openSUSE_Tumbleweed/
http://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/mirrors/packman/suse/openSUSE_12.1/

And install cairo-dock and cairo-dock-plugins

Thank you very much, that worked!!!! Adding the above repositories added plugins plus a few other packages for cairo dock. A note to anyone trying to add the above repos, make sure to add a "/" to the end of the first one otherwise you will get an error stating yast cannot make a repo out of the given url. Thank you again, you all have been very helpful.

just like to confirm that adding the two "repo's" in the guests post on the 26th February, and then installing the pugins in yast work perfectly in opensuse 12.1 (KDE 4.8). many thanks.

I am new to linux. This will run on all the different types of desktop if you have enough RAM/disk space? Or does it have certain dependencies?

It should works on any type of desktop and don't consume a lot of ram/space on the disk. Just try it
