Effects like rotation, spot, wobbly, wave, etc are used to indicate a selected icon when the mouse hovers over the icon.
Unfortunately, when one sweeps the mouse across many icons, all the icons touched by the mouse start to animate.
Although this effect looks rather pleasing, I find it causes one to be (briefly) confused as to what icon has actually been selected. In other words, the effect is a bit distracting.
Can we have an option under the animated icons menu to only apply the animation effect on the icon being touched, and to *immediately* switch off the animation when the mouse moves away from the icon?
(Note : I like the animation to repeat while the icon is selected). |

I'm not sure that cutting the animation suddenly would give a nice result, but what you could try is reducing the animation duration (in the configuration, in advanced mode -> "icon animations" or "icon effects") |

Ah, I see there are two sources of effects in the Appearance menu:
- Animated icons
- Icon Effects
I'm not sure why they are split into these groups.
Anyway, I was using 'pulse' under 'Animated icons', with 'Repeat' switched on while icon is pointed to.
If instead I use 'snow' under 'Icon effects' and, as you say, turn down the animation duration, I sort of get what I want. But the snow now sure looks like a blizzard!
Actually, I have now found the 'rain' effect works better for this. |
