Hello,
I am new to Cairo but "I like what I see"! I hope somebody can help me, there is 1 thing I do not understand: I use PCLinux OS, newest KDE version, Cairo 2.2.0-2. When not using Cairo I have 2 items for the configuration of Linux in the application menu: one to configure the workspace (systemsettings-caption) and a second one to configure system-settings (Drakconf).
When Cairo is launched I have only Drakconf available in the application menu?
Things like settings of shortcuts, fonts, gestures etc. are no longer easily accessible.
How is this possible? |

Hi,
could you please run
or maybe
locate "*applications.menu"
this is where the menu entries are listed. |

I wonder why you have a /etc/xdg/gnome folder ...
what are the content of these 2 files ?
cat /etc/xdg/gnome/menus/applications.menu
cat /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu
nothing in the home ?
find ~ -name "*applications.menu" |

If I use your "find" command in Konsole I get no results, I even tried it as root but still no results? Is there maybe a typo in your line? |

that means that you don't have an applications.menu in your home, so maybe you have never installed a new application yet ?
or maybe something like this would work better:
find /home/your-user-name -name applications.menu
so what is the content of the 2 files ? they should contain all the entries of the menu. |

I found part of the solution:
When adding the starter to Cairo it kept the original start-up command "systemsettings -caption "%c" %i" to run. This should be (why I do not know!) just the application name: "systemsettings".
After changing the starter it works like a charm.
The menu-item is still missing in the applications Menu but at least I can now start it.
The line "find /home/your-user-name -name applications.menu" gives me no return, as far as I can tell the files only exist in the earlier mentioned directories:
cat /etc/xdg/gnome/menus/applications.menu
cat /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu
I will open both files and check them for errors, I imagine I only need the 2nd item as I use KDE? |

I would say so.
try to see if your application is listed in the .menu file.
if it's not, maybe you can use alacarte (it's a small soft to edit the menu) |
