Hi.

I run cairo-dock 2.1.3-10 on ubuntu 10.04.

I live in Sweden so I have swedish language support installed in ubuntu.

The cairo-dock menus have both swedish and english text mixed together,

because from my understanding, the swedish translation for cairo-dock is not complete.

If it's possible I want to set the language to english only in cairo.

Is it possible?

Thanks.

EDIT:

I meant "english-only"

Hello,

There are two possibilities:
  • Help us by translating Cairo-Dock and its plug-ins => https://translations.launchpad.net/cairo-dock
  • Launch Cairo-Dock with this command:
    env LANG=C cairo-dock
    (you can edit the launcher at startup or the launcher on the applications menu, etc. (you can do that for any applications )

Thanks for your answer.

Yes, I will look into creating a swedish translation.

Thanks again!

So I tried to run cairo-dock with the "env LANG=C" argument.

Now, this worked OK for the dock itself, but for

some reason, the applications that I had launchers for in the dock

also seemed to run with "env LANG=C", all having english in the menus.

Why is that?

I know that "LANG=C" is the default locale in the applications code itself, but

why would this affect the other applications that I had launchers for in the dock(besides

cairo-dock)?

Thanks in advance.

Because Cairo-Dock is launched into this environment and then other applications that you'll open with it will be launched in English...
You can also edit your launcher but... the best solution is to translate the dock

You can also remove the translation files for your language...
sudo rm /usr/share/locale/sv/LC_MESSAGES/cairo-dock.mo /usr/share/locale/sv/LC_MESSAGES/cairo-dock-plugins.mo

Thanks for the help.

Did you know ? The Code tag can do syntax colouring based in the languages :

. It will work with : php,c,c++,c#,sql,bash
