The link to the theme just returns to the same page. I love going in circles as much as the next guy but is there a download link anywhere?

Thanks.

Hi i dont know what you mean i didnt post a link to this theme at all!!!

Guest, Thursday 23 June 2011 à 18:58

Oops sorry, that explains it. I thought maybe this theme was available for download, it's very nice. Oh well, I guess looking at it in a picture is almost as good.

Guest, Thursday 23 June 2011 à 22:42

Its really easy to recreate the theme so you dont have to just look at it
In fact its not even a theme its just a trick you modify the wallpaper and make the cairo dock transparent but i guess you can also make a png file in gimp or so and use as a background.I use unitys launcher now anyway so i wont make a png myself

Appreciate your responses... I'm new to Cairo-Dock, have always used icons for launchers, the Text-White theme on a black abstract wallpaper is the best looking desktop I've ever had. Of course, there is a limited number of icons and mixing the white-text with standard icons detracts from the appearance. I'm guessing it can't be too hard, even for someone who's never done any graphics work, I guess it'll give me a chance to fire up Gimp for the first time. Nice job.

I think i would try to hack a file in Inkscape.

You would just have to replace each portion of text by the name of an icon and to replace the name of the icon accordingly.

I think someone good in scripting could even do that with few lines of code.

Unfortunately it will not be me.

Ya, that would be cool if the more-talented-than-myself guys who came up the theme would have included some time of template.

Guest, Saturday 25 June 2011 à 06:58

Would like to repeat that last post in English, it must be late

And by the way were you asking me about the icons and how to make them or were you asking about the dock background i wouldn't mind to make some backgrounds for you, although i think its not really that difficult. The icons are also easy to recreate in gimp.I actually made a few icons and posted them somewhere but cant remember were. But i know that when i got the flow it took me a few minutes to make hundreds of icons and they all looked good.Hope my answer is of any relevance

And by the way one more time (sorry i am to lazy to log in )A trick i applied often was i made a dock background in the right resolution(considering the width mine was always 1440 pixels)on a transparent background. That way when i wanted to change the background all i would do is to copy-paste the template on the new background and et voila.Takes seconds! Although i have to admit that i found that in awn-dock you have the ability to customize the docks background quite well.I hope you guys implement the same customization options in cairo as well!!!

Nice, really nice. Was always much more into the "sleek panel" look as opposed to the "huge 3d curved bar" look. Cool to have my windows buddies wowing at my desktop, thanks for the tips, guys.
