Franksuse64 :
I wonder wow come Raja needs the sudo command for files on his home...
Well Frank, This is because on my system
/home/virtual is smbguest:virtual rwx r-x r-x and
/home/virtual/etc is root:root rwx r-x r-x
I dont know how this has happened so instead of changing owner:group and messing with
other applications I decided to add sudo for second command, thats all.
Thanks and regards.

"quick browser" is not showing respective icons for .desktop files.
the applet just doesn't have this feature
it wouldn't be too hard to add I guess ... are these .desktops on the Desktop ? |

If my memory is good, .desktops can be in any folder. I think they are used to store folder information in each folder that requires it. I have to check, can't at work. |

No those are in a folder in my home directory.
BTW If a feature to drag and drop .desktop file on dock to create a custom launcher
is implemented then I can create a sub dock easily and have a work around. Otherwise I have
to tediously create each Launcher manually which is a time consuming task. I feel its
possible since .desktop file has all information which a custom launcher needs like
name, icon filename and command. At present dock has feature to drag-drop menu item from
menu editor which has saved my lot of time.
Thanks and regards

you can indeed drop any .desktop file (including the ones from the Menu) into the dock (drop it amongst the other launchers) |

Yes It worked. Earlier I Tested with renamed .desktop files (.desktop was removed) and it did not worked
so I have posted. Sorry for Inconvenience. I am Marking This thread as Resolved.
Thanks a lot for all the contributors and Long Live Cairo-Dock, a amazing piece of Software.

.desktop was removed
you're right, the dock uses the extension to know it's a .desktop
it's maybe a bit cumbersome, but is ok in 99% of the cases |

True, I agree with you. I renamed all the .desktop files within few minutes
and just dragged all the .desktop files in one stroke and placed in to a subdock.
Now I am planning to say good bye to linux panel after testing system tray applet.
