Hi!

I have couple of questions. I know probably some of there are already answered but it's really hard to find the answered becuase of mixing languages on the forum.

1. Can I change default icon for Music Applet? I mean the icon which is being used when there is no cover. I tried to change 'Name of an image for the 'default' icon' - no luck.

2. I set actions to 'show/hide player on click' but it doesn't work (i use Rhythmbox/Ubuntu 10.04).
Well, I just found out it works when the Rhythmbox's window is visible and then i use the applet to hide it (by clicking). but i can't show the window when i hide it by closing it (and moving to the tray).

3. Can I permanently hide some applications from the list? I use empathy but I don't want to see it on the cairo-dock.

4. Can i disable that frame around active window?

More..soon

1/ sure you can, there are 5 states (play, pause, etc)
so you have to specify an image for each of them.

2/
but i can't show the window when i hide it by closing it (and moving to the tray).

ah, indeed, beacause when in the tray, the window is actually closed (not minimized). I guess the applet loses its indicator.
so it would be better to minimize the window (in the applet) than closing the window (in the tray).
I'll try to work around this point though.

3/ no, but you can make a launcher for it. or even an applet (like for Pidgin)

4/ yep, the indicator of active window is customizable in "Indicators"

Let me know if you will figure out something.

Does it change anything? I want to hide empathy as much as I can, not to promote it. I use Ubuntu and it's enough if my envelope change a colour when some new messages arrive
I turn off the animation and dialog bubble for Interaction and Representation (TaskBar section). It's working now but impacts on other applications too. Better than nothing but would be nice to get this feature. I believe not everyone like all that distrubance from IMs

Ah! However I can't remove the frame. There is no blank type of indicator and can't select it. I tried to set size of frame to 0 but it doesn't help at all.
Also, I don't understand why all opened applications have that indicator image. It's set for launchers (and it's fine) but not for applications. I thought it's happening because of 'Mix launchers and applis' but this option doesn't impact on this behaviour.

There is no blank type of indicator

there is in the coming version, anyway I think you can set the transparency to 0.

I don't understand why all opened applications have that indicator image

this is an option of the Taskbar.
seems that you looked for it in Indicators, which demonstrates that maybe it should be here...

I use Ubuntu and it's enough if my envelope change a colour when some new messages arrive

hmm, I see.
The best would be to have this envelope inside the dock, so that it can also control empathy.
Anyway what you want is not really to remove it from the taskbar (it can be useful to access its window) but rather prevent it from demanding your attention ?
maybe it could be a feature in Empathy, because after all it's their window that demands attention.
I don't use Empathy, can it be closed and appear in the systray (and then not in the taskbar) ?

Slick workaround

Hmm, first of all, Empathy uses systray (or Indicator Gnome applet). Chat windows and contact list is displayed on taskbar or Cairo-Dock.

However, by "envelope" I meant Indicator Gnome Applet and all that Messaging Menu from Ubuntu. I don't think putting it to CD is the best way (well maybe as an option for users). I don't see how it could be a feature of Empathy. What's happing is that that I get baloon info and some animations in CD when new messages arrive. i like this feature but not for Empathy (it's to frequent). I think CD could have a new feature like 'Hide from applis" where you can define class of apps which you don't want to see at all. Other solution is to add except option to Representation/Interaction (i think the best solution it is).

yes, this is becase the Empathy's window sends message to the dock to catch your attention.
For instance there is an option in Pidgin to enable/disable these demands.
Same feature could be added to Empathy (or maybe it already exists somewhere in the gconf blob ?). It's not really the work of CD to provide a workaround for applications

It's not really important but it doesn't work. When i leave image file textbox blank there is still the frame.

oh, ok there shouldn't be a frame.
maybe it's just a reload problem, what if you restart the dock ?

Edit : ah I see there is a bug here Thank you.
