I like to have cairo-dock to be set to "Always on top" and also "Auto hide the dock". I would like an easier way to change between the two modes.
Could you add a feature to keep the dock "up" when I scroll up and "down" when I scroll down.
I don't know how useful it would be to others, but for me it would be very handy. Some times I always need to see the dock and other times it gets in the way.
Another idea is to use the scroll button to maximize/minimize windows when hovering over them.
I know that them two ideas conflict each other. Maybe a ctrl+scroll for changing the dock's visibility. |

actually the scroll over an icon is already used to switch between windows of the same appli (like an ALT+TAB on a given application)
so it's quite hard to integrate these features.
indeed, maybe using CTRL or SHIFT would be possible, though less fast.
about the auto-hide, what about the "quick-hide" option in the menu ? it quickly hides the dock 1 time. |

I do know of the quick hide feature, but I need to dock to hide several times.
I didn't know that the scroll button was used like that. I just tried it with 2 firefox windows. It might come in handy. Thanks. |

maybe the new "auto-hide is a window covers the dock" option would fit you ? |

The option does seem to be good, but I sometimes want to see the dock when it is covered. It's random when I want it to hide or stay on top. Sometimes I leave firefox maximized and start to switch to other windows. The dock would then stay hidden.
Thanks for the tip about scrolling through the same app's windows. My intuition told me that scrolling would minimize and restore windows which feels like it would be handy, but is useless as clicking the icon does that.
I will be using the scroll for switching between terminals. It's a really good idea and is really useful. |

thanks
about the new auto-hide, the dock will become visible as soon as you switch to a window that doesn't cover it.
but maybe it doesn't suit you; the fact is that scroll is already used for icons (many applets also use the scroll), so we can't scroll on the dock itself.
What about a shift+scroll ? it's maybe less handy though, I don't know. |
