Hi, using cairo-dock latest version 2.1.3-7.
KDE 4.3.1.
When a new MSN message is received, only the sub-dock is rotating when I click on the parent-dock/main-dock.
I would like to see the main-dock/parent-dock is also rotating, otherwise, I always miss new messages.
Can I do this? Is my current behavior correct?
Thanks. |

the sub-dock does not pop up automatically ?
maybe you can try to add the program in the list of the programs which are forced to demand your attention (Taskbar module). |

Dear fabounet,
The sub-doc does not pop up automatically by default.
After following your instruction and add the program in the list of the programs which are forced to demand attention (Taskbar module), the sub-doc pops up automatically. It works with this setup. Cheers.
Should the sub-doc pop up automatically by default without the above setup? If so, my installation might have some problems. but so far, the workaround is working well. Thanks a lot! |

actually the sub-dock shouldn't pop-up except if you force it.
this is because it's quite intrusive for usual notifications in my opinion .
what I should probably do is to animate the icon in the main dock by default if one icon of the sub-dock demands the attention. |

Dear fabounet,
Thanks for the reply.
Yeah, I think if a sub-dock is animating (eg: rotate), the main-dock should also be animating (eg: rotate).
I don't know how other people think though.
Thanks. |

lylambda,
No, Only for the parent dock of the sub-dock. I think this is the default behavior for taskbar in KDE Panel and Gnome Panel.
If one instance of a group is highliting, the group is highliting.
If one instance of a group is flashing, the group is flashing too.
All main docks don't make sense.
Cheers. |

So, just the icon (in the main dock) of the subdock, where there are the animation ? If it's that, I can understand.
But isn't it the current behavior ? |

Hi lylambda,
The default animation with highlight application is "Rotate".
The current default behavior is like this:- One dock (without subdocks) with highlight event will rotate.
- A sub-dock with highlight event will rotate, but the parent-dock of this sub-dock will remain unchanged (doesn't do anything).
If you force an application to demand the attention (a special setup in taskbar applet), you will see: when a sub-dock is rotating, the parent dock will activate "Slide view". (i.e. all sub-docks will popup with "Slide View")
This is what I found here. I don't know how you find in your case. I am using KDE 4.3.1. Hopefully, you can understand what I mean.
So I agree if a sub-dock is rotating, the parent-dock should also be rotating by default (just like what fabounet said at Wednesday 24 March 2010 à 09:49 - the last sentence.). In such case, I'll know one of its subdocks need to get attention.
Thanks. |
