only 1 applet, and no difference between icons and container icons, that's the challenge
we have to keep the things coherent and easy for the user. |

I've merged the two applets "Animated Icons" & "Animated Subdock icons" into one applet "Animated Icons".
The only way to do it it was create another applet Animated SubIcons that works with Animated Icons ... i did it in this way because i can't controll inside the applet the RENDER code (or better i can do it but i couldn't obtain the same animation result).. the only way it was create two differents applets whic answers to 2 differents RENDER triggers .. now the main applet "Animated icons" controlls the subapplet "Animated SubIcons" that starts with the main, reloads with the main and stops with the main (see the code Animated icons -> applet-init.c in my branch). Is it ok or not?
A little question ... where is the configuration of the main-config-panel? i tried to uninstall and reinstall cairo dock but some changes i applied before weren't changed ... |

not sure to understand all but I'll give it a look when I have some free time
is it possible to have a little demo of the result ?
the config files of CD are in ~/.config/cairo-dock/current_theme |

Only one thing we have to see if in this way "animated subicons" allocate and destroy in the right way the resources ... i think yes but i'm not sure |

Good news
And I like your bug with GTK or Xorg => You can use Emerald with a transparency border
But now, after a few minutes, this bug disappear strange ! |

Yes, it's great . I thought that you'll never be back !
Now, CD is on Alpha 1. So it's easier to add new features !
But don't go to fast because it's hard to add a lot a new features.
Maybe the easiest way to do that is (if you can/want) to go to our IRC channel (#cairo-dock on irc.freenode.net) and speak with fabounet to add this features gradually
PS: Fab is replacing pBuffers functions by FBOs...
PS²: did you have a look to the current 2.1.4 version which has your feature (with a fade effect) ? |

oh, a step further to what I've done
which version of the dock did you hack to obtain this ? because as Matttbe said, the icon's unfolding has been added in the 2.1.4.
if you could come on IRC it would be easier to talk about it. |

The version of cairo dock that i modified is 2.1.3-4 (i know it's an old version) .. in the new version you have inserted unfolding .. i could try to insert my applet in bzr version of cairo dock but .... .. .. . i don't like to work and after I see that you don't help me in the development, you don't read my code, you don't pubblished a line of my code ... vous avez compris? |

To be honest with you.
I am not a developer but I felt with 20 post and two weeks on this forum to incorporate your code with no review and testing was actually awkward. Of course you might have been angry that your code was not added but on such short notice with not knowing you, was weird. I do not think fabounet wants to steal your ideas. But how would you have felt if after three years working night and day on a project a guy popping up and asking you to break your API to add one of his feature.
I am sure fabounet will merge your code if you keep participating in this project and will help you to incorporate your code to fit perfectly in cairo-dock core API to keep improving cairo-dock
There is certainly more than 100 000 people using cairo-dock who trust the development of this project quality, testing and reviewing is very important.
I hope you understand.
Kind regards,
Thibaut |

Hi miousername,
Thibaut is right... The fact is the latest stable version should have been released at the end of January but we had a lot of problem with our registrar, etc.
So we couldn't integrate your code into the trunk branch at this moment.
In the other hand, all developpers are welcome! The project is open, source code is under a GNU/GPL3 licence, the documentation is available, bzr could help dev, etc. But we (or Fabounet) has to check to code... We doesn't know how you code, if it just works or if it works with the most perfect way, etc. and it takes a lot of time to check that... (there was not just one or two lines ) And it's also harder to integrate some new feature into the API instead of a new applet. It's the core of Cairo-Dock so the code has to be good and powerful.
This is the reason that I said : "Come on IRC, speak with fabounet (when he is not busy so after 9 or 10pm or maybe before that during the week-end)". If it's possible, do that before starting to code (and during coding) to be the most effective and to not lose time !
We want to work with you but you're new here, it's normal ! so be patient
I hope you will continue to code with us |
