The labels in version 2 don't look as good as in the old cairo-dock.
This happens when the text is outlined. For example white text with black outline.
It used to look very good.

You can change everything in the "label" menu => the thickness of the black outline, the weight of the text, the background, etc. to get what you want !

I know that the menu. You can't set the thickness of the outline, just the of the margin. It's not the same.
The outline looked better in the previous version.

It's maybe a imprecision due to the OpenGL... OpenGL isn't so precise (I think)...

Guest, Thursday 28 May 2009 à 22:43

Yeah, they do look better without OpenGL. So there's no way to fix this unless I run the no-opengl version?

I've payed more attention and the outlined text just doesn't look as good as before. Is there anything that can be done about this?

has any config parameters changed between the 2 tests ? (like the font, etc)
I personnaly find the abels more readable in the v2

Guest, Saturday 30 May 2009 à 18:17

No, I don't think so. The labels look OK, it's the outline that's a bit out of place I think. Maybe moved to the right.
Now I have it on black test without outline and this looks good. It's for example white text with outline that seems dirty.

I just upgraded to 2.0.3, I was using 2.0.2 before. The label outline looks much better now.

I've modified it again for the 2.0.4, now it's exactly like before.
I liked the "shadow" effect it was giving, but the readability is more important
I'm waiting for some remarks on the 2 versions.

Guest, Monday 01 June 2009 à 14:42

Sure. when will the 2.0.4 packages be ready?
