Hi,
i downloaded cairo-dock 2 and plug-ins, but plug-ins don´t want to be installed: "error: dependency is not satisfiable" libetpan13". In synaptic i have only libetpan11 as option to install. I do not know what that is. Can i install plugins whitout that, or is there anything i can do?

I need trash app but can not find it (probably i need that plug-ins). Other than that, cairo-dock works perfectly nice and fast. Very good job!

Downloaded files:
cairo-dock_v2.0.0-rc5_i686.deb
cairo-dock-plug-ins_v2.0.0-rc5_i686.deb

I run it on Dell Mini 9 and dell´s Ubuntu 8.04 (lpia)

I guess lpia repository doesn't offer libetpan13 packages

Guest, Friday 01 May 2009 à 17:25

At least not libetpan13 (libetpan11 stays in synaptic). So, is there any way to avoid libetpan13 (and what is it?)? Or i have to installed it (and how). Is it risky? I don´t want to ruin my dell ubuntu...

I don't know if it's risky but it's available here : https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/intrepid/lpia/libetpan13/0.54-4ubuntu1
I don't know if something can be wrong with dependancies of this package. Just try to launch install and if it's complaining about dependancies just don't install package

Guest, Friday 01 May 2009 à 20:38

Thanks, Mav, i tried it, but still nothing-gdebi wants other dependency, so, as long as i do not know what i am doing, i wouldn´t make it. Still, is it possible that 8.04 does not support cairo-dock? Or that i can not install libetpan11 and make it working with it?

The package on Ubuntu 8.04 is libetpan13 so I need to ask Fab if we make a special package for lpia repository

Guest, Friday 01 May 2009 à 21:27

I found only this
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+search?text=libetpan

I downloaded cairo-dock from berlios (couldn´t add it in source list and download through synaptic). Is there some special version for LPIA or it doesn´t metter? Cairo works on my dell mini 9 and Ubuntu LPIA perfectly. I am newbie to linux, so sorry for my questions...

Is it possible taht it could work under libetpan11...?

I don't think we expressely need libetpan13, but the package's name contains the version (which is very ugly), so if we write libetpan11, will it work ?

Guest, Tuesday 05 May 2009 à 20:37

Ok, e. g. i don´t use libetpan, so would it be possible to prepare some plug-ins package whitout libetpan13? i presume it will work whitout libetpan13 (or with libetpan11, which can ve installed, but i don´t know yet if some other packages should be installed with it).

Guest, Tuesday 05 May 2009 à 20:43

It would be shame that cairo-dock stays available only for newest distribution of linux, because it works very well under low powered netbooks with LPIA (as said, i have dell mini 9), and i don´t won´t to install unstable linux version instead of adjusted dell ubuntu.

Anyway, i stay with cairo-dock because it is very good programm...

Maybe, you can force the installation of Cairo-Dock but after that you will not use Mail plugin...

EDIT : to force :
sudo dpkg -i cairo-dock*.deb --force-depends

Guest, Wednesday 06 May 2009 à 00:24

I am newbie, and i do not know how it works-but my dock is working-need to install plug-ins. The command is the same?

LibEtPan! is a mail library. So, if you can't install it, you can force Cairo-Dock's installation but after that, you will not use Mail Plug-in (but the others will work normally...).
I don't know if Mav or Fab have a solution... Maybe Mail plug-in will work just with libetpan11 (but I don't think... but you can test !).

If you can, try all this commands (after downloading Cairo-Dock RC5 packages (http://developer.berlios.de/project/showfiles.php?group_id=8724) and set this two packages in your home directory) :
sudo dpkg -i cairo-dock*.deb
sudo apt-get install -f
sudo dpkg -i cairo-dock*.deb --force-depends
sudo apt-get install -f

and report messages in this topic... and say if it works or not

matttbe, thanks for advice, but i am newbie, and i am too affraid to do this actions, because i don´t want to do reinstallation because of plug-ins (i don´t know if this operation can be undone - and how?).

Still if i do this, "cairo-dock*" stays for my "cairo-dock-plug-ins_v2.0.0-rc5_i686.deb"?

Every actions can be undone ! .... but if you're afraid to test what people tells you (to help you !!! Keep this in mind ! ), just don't ask any help !! ...

Ok, i tried. It doesn´t go:

root@sugar:/home/sugar/Dokumente/Downloads# sudo dpkg -i cairo-dock-plug-ins_v2.0.0-rc5_i686.deb --force-depends
--force-depends
cairo-dock-plug-ins

Happy now?

Ok, thanks.
But what about :
sudo apt-get install -f

It's just because dpkg can't install others packages. So can you test it and report the output ?

EDIT : I forgot : can you install the plug-ins package after the master ?

Guest, Wednesday 06 May 2009 à 16:37

Also nothing-i tried both commands, but after sudo apt-get install -f it removed something (ca 1000KB). If i type now that:
root@sugar:/home/sugar/Dokumente/Downloads# sudo apt-get install -f
Paketlisten werden gelesen... Fertig
Abhängigkeitsbaum wird aufgebaut
Reading state information... Fertig
0 aktualisiert, 0 neu installiert, 0 zu entfernen und 0 nicht aktualisiert.

As said, i installed cairo-dock (master?) and it works ok, only plug-ins i can´t install.

Thanks

Strange...
And what about :
sudo dpkg -i --ignore-depends=libetpan13 cairo-dock-plug-ins_v2.0.0-rc5_i686.deb
sudo apt-get install -f

Guest, Wednesday 06 May 2009 à 18:53

It's for you !! -> Now, you'll be able to say : "I tried"

That i´ll give you right!

Anyway, if someone finds solution it will be appreciated.
