So, over the past few weeks I've been tweaking my system, giving it some eyecandy, etc.
Last night I decided to enable the widget layer in compiz. Immediately gscreenlets pidgin went to the widget layer. With cairo, I'm using the clock, systray, compiz icon, and rhythmbox applets. When loading the widget layer, each of them come up as the following:
Window Class: Cairo-dock
Window Title: cairo-dock-desklet
Window Name: cairo-dock
Window ID: <null>
Window Role: <null>
Window Type: Utility
Now the problem is, I want to be able to place only select applets on the widget layer, Compiz Icon, Rhythmbox. And I want to keep the systray as it should be. I've tried checking/unchecking the keep on widget layer checkbox in each of the applets and it doesn't change anything. I think that the window name should reflect as cairo-dock-<applet name> thus eliminating the problem.
Besides the above, is there a way to force it? |

read carefully the little tooltip, you have to enter the following rule :
name=cairo-dock | type=utility
Edit : now that I think of it, maybe we could have find a better solution, like changing the window name/class when it has to go to the Layer, instead of changing the type ... |
