Hello,

Sorry I don't speak french, I speak english I hope that is okay

I love cairo dock, but when I click on an icon, if the application is already running, it will try to create another instance of that application rather than minimize it or activate the window.

I have gone into the Taskbar preferences and made sure "Mix launchers and applis" was checked, and "Minimize the window when icon is clicked, if it was already the active window" was also checked.

What might be the problem? Any help is appreciated.

Thank you.
Nick

is there an indicator drawn on the launcher after you launched it ?
also what is your desktop environnement ?

I use GNOME on an Ubuntu Hardy laptop. I have compiz-fusion running. I see no indicator, just my icons. What indicator are you referring to?

indicators that are drawn on the launcher's icon, to show that it has been launched already.
which applications did you try with ? maybe it's a problem of class name.

I had exactly the same problem as you, and have just found out how to fix it.

As fabounet says, it's a problem with the class name. In order to get the launcher and the appli to mix you must have the correct class set for the launcher. You change this by right-clicking on the icon in the dock, and then modify this launcher, then extra parameters, and you should see it at the bottom.

However, you must find out each program's class before you can put it in. So, open up a terminal and type
xprop WM_CLASS
Your cursor should change to a target, so then click on the program you want to find out the class for. You must have it already on your screen, you can't do it by clicking on the icon in the dock. The class of the program should be printed in the terminal, so all you have to do then is copy it into the class box in the launcher's properties.

Problem solved!

Soory for my english ...

Just a little thing : When you have an application of "Terminal" (for example) already running, if you want to start another instance of Terminal, you need to press and hold the Left Shift key before clicking the Terminal launcher
