This is my environment:
Host Machine:
Cairo-dock Version:    3.4.1
OS:            Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS
Desktop XSession:    Ubuntu-Mate

When I connect to my rdp (Remote Desktop Protocol) host machine from Linux or Windows, some of the keys fail. Namely the lower case "l" and the "ENTER" keys after starting Cairo-Dock.

When typing nothing shows up when I hit the unshifted "l" key. Also, the ENTER key fails. Pressing the ENTER, instead of acting as a carriage return it applies numbers to the Cairo-Dock icons.

When I exit Cairo-Dock, all keys in the remote desktop session functions correctly.

Can someone tell me how to identify what is configuring those keys to interface with Cairo-Dock and stop the interface, or configure a different keystroke for the Cairo-Dock control?

Thanks in advance for input and suggestions.

It turns out that the key configuring is a feature of Cairo-dock. I don't know how to disable the keyboard shorts for the offending keys, but I figured out how to change them to different keys.

The keys can be changed by entering the `Shortkeys` option in the Cairo-Dock GUI configuration. Then double clicking the offending hotkey option and hitting a different keystoke.

There still leaves three questions on this feature.

  1. How to Delete an entry
  2. How to Add an entry
  3. How to perform those options from the commandline

Since the offending configuration was `<Super>Return` and `<Super>L`, knowing how that would be entered in the configuration files would help with how to remove them VIA the commandline.

By the way, being able to know which file to edit and manually change from the commandline would be helpful because sometimes when trying to set the keystoke the action considered may be hard to set, when one of the keys such as the `Super` key is already set to invoke an action in the OS.

Thanks again to anyone who has some input on this.

This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free. It is the old what goes around comes around routine.
