thanks for the bug report. I can't debug it myself cause I don't have a laptop, could you please run
ddd cairo-dock
and tell me which line does it crash ?

Guest, Wednesday 28 May 2008 à 14:05

using cairo-dock -l debug i see:
debug : (powermanager-dbus.c:dbus_connect_to_bus:115)
acquisition de la batterie -> 8259760
Segmentation fault

so the problem may be at
powermanager-dbus.c:dbus_connect_to_bus:116
:
myData.battery_present = (dbus_proxy_battery != NULL); // a priori toujours vrai.

this line can't crash, but have you dbus running on your system ? for exemple if you try the Rhythmbox applet that also uses DBus, does it work ?

Guest, Thursday 29 May 2008 à 08:27

i don't use rhythmbox, how can i test if dbus work properly..?!?

you can try to activate the expose with the compiz-icon applet.
tomboy applet also uses DBus.

Guest, Saturday 31 May 2008 à 19:02

my expo plugin of compiz-fusion works fine...

Guest, Saturday 31 May 2008 à 21:20

if i use compiz-icon plugin of cairodock and click on exposition icon i got:
sh: compiz.real: command not found
...

Guest, Saturday 31 May 2008 à 21:33

sorry for my multiposts i have solved for ccompiz-icon, i have created a symlink compiz.real for mi compiz, and no expo works fine, so i thik that my dbus work properly, but battery plugin makes seg fault of cairodock...

I'll fixe the error you get from compiz-icon.

For battery plug, can you give us a backtrace report of the crash with ddd ?
sudo apt-get install ddd
ddd cairo-dock

It would help us to fixe this.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: It's now fixed for compiz-icon on the svn, can you remove your symbolic link to compiz to test the patch?

Guest, Sunday 01 June 2008 à 05:38

now i've updated from 1044 to 1064 svn(core and plugins...), now (1)powermanager dont makes crash but it doesnt read ac off.., (2)wifi plugin tell me that the wifi seems disabled(but how can i post here...?!?!?), and (3)compiz-icon have the same bug of symlink...sorry, i hope im helpfull for you...

Guest, Wednesday 04 June 2008 à 16:10

could you paste the content of your /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state please ?

Guest, Wednesday 04 June 2008 à 21:30

With AC-on:
lenny:~$ cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state
present: yes
capacity state: ok
charging state: charging
present rate: 21360 mW
remaining capacity: 45600 mWh
present voltage: 16565 mV

With AC-off:
lenny:~$ cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state
present: yes
capacity state: ok
charging state: discharging
present rate: 33615 mW
remaining capacity: 45795 mWh
present voltage: 15812 mV

Also cairo-dock read this data in the "init", but the battery seems always full...and his baloon says: Battery charged at: 0%; Estimated time with charge: None...

can someone paste its own file please ? to compare.
it seems the battery file is ok but BDus doesn't read it. maybe you should activate something on your system like gnome-power-manager or else

Guest, Friday 06 June 2008 à 15:01

I have deleted my old config files...so cairo-dock creatr default configuration...
There is no other power manager manager...i use xfce(not gnome) and the ongly manager i know for xfce is xfce-battery, and i havent it.
Wath files can i paste?

Guest, Friday 06 June 2008 à 15:04

This is the block of "cairo-dock -l debug" when it check batter(every 10 sec):
get_stats: assertion `ptrarray != NULL' failed
get_stats: assertion `ptrarray != NULL' failed
debug : (powermanager-dbus.c:update_stats:172)
PowerManager [On Battery]: 0
debug : (powermanager-draw.c:update_icon:18)
update_icon (time:0->0 ; charge:0->0)

well, your Dbus doesn't do its work. I guess we'll have to add our own file parsing in such case, to replace it.

Guest, Sunday 08 June 2008 à 18:14

i dont undestand you: what i must add? and where?
