  • The version of Cairo-Dock ('cairo-dock -v' in a terminal).
3.4.1
  • Your GNU/Linux distribution (Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, etc.).
Archlinux
  • Or you using OpenGL or not.
Don't know
  • Your Window manager (Compiz, Metacity, Kwin, Openbox, etc.).
Kwin (kwin_x11, not kwin_wayland)
  • Your Desktop Environment (Gnome, KDE, XFCE, etc.).
None
  • How you got the bug and therefore the answer to the question 'How can the bug be reproduced'.
Always "works as unexpected"
  • If it's a crash, you can launch Cairo-Dock from a terminal ('cairo-dock') and post the output.

Not a crash, just an unexpected behavior

Description:
- Setup
- Selected "Visibility of the main dock" option: "Hide the dock when it overlaps the current window"
- Dock position: bottom left
- Behavior
- Active window not close to the bottom border => Dock is visible (this is normal)
- Active window close enough to (or touches) the bottom border, but not over the dock (see below (with fixed-width font)) => Dock hides (this is unexpected (to me))
---------------------------
|Screen |
| |
| .--------. | => In this situation, the dock auto-hides while the window does not overlap it
|.. |Window | |
||Dock| || |
---------------------------

Details:
I use the Kwin window manager with window snapping on. Whenever I drag a window close to the bottom border, whether it is above the dock or not, the window gets snapped some pixels above the dock height. So it seems that there is a transparent, dock-related window at the bottom of the screen which occupies the whole screen width independently of the dock size/position, and which is used to auto-hide the dock when the active window overlaps it. I would expect this window to have the same size and position as the dock instead. In the example above, the dock would not auto-hide then.

Thank you.
